» Weekly Training Schedule
This information is based on folklore and should be confirmed for accuracy. Weekday evening rides typically start when the clocks turn back, after the first weekend in April, and continue until it starts to become too dark in the fall.
During the spring and summer Wed night rides have had good turn-outs. Check with your team captains for other secret training rides and other assorted rituals.
Monday – Recovery Ride Leaving from the North Bridge Visitor Center Parking Lot on Liberty Street (same as the old CBTT registration) at 5:45pm. This is a slow pace ride designed to promote rest and active recovery. This is a no-drop, small-ring, ride. Typical distance 12-17 miles. Ride time approx. 1hr. (remember, the idea is to go very slowly)
This ride is suitable for NEBC registered junior riders (age 9 and older). All interested juniors are encouraged to join in. An NEBC adult rider will be present to supervise younger juniors and route/speed will be tailored accordingly. (road bike or hybrid preferred) ANSI/SNELL Helmet required
Contact Gio Marzot if you need further information.
Tuesday – Women’s Ride starting at 6:00 pm on the Lexington Battle Green (Junction of Mass Ave and Bedford Road). May to mid-September.
This ride will allow women of all levels to learn or work on improving paceline skills. Every week there will be a beginners group focusing on learning paceline basics and going at a moderate pace of 12-14 mph. There will also be several faster groups of more experienced riders at 14-16, 16-18, and 18-20+ mph. Ride length is 20 miles for the 12-16 mph groups, and either 26 or 31 miles for the faster groups. NEBC Charlie Baker Time Trial Join us in Concord for the NEBC Time Trial. First rider off at 6 p.m.

Hill Ride The (in)famous Wednesday Night Hill Ride. The ride leaves at 6pm sharp from the mall parking lot next to the Cycle Loft in Burlington (directions below). We follow a 20-25 mi. loop, encompassing the gnarliest hills in the Boston Metro area (we’re talking gnarly with two g’s). In response to popular request, road construction contractors were hired over the winter to increase the length and grade of most of the hills. Additionally, the rides have been scheduled to coincide with the convergence of the inner planets to take advantage of the increased gravitational pull.
Low gears recommended. Since this is a training ride, no one will be dropped; we will ride an easy recovery pace between the hills, work hard up the hills, then regroup on the tops.
Ride takes place mid-April through August.
Directions:
Meet at the mall parking lot next to the Cycle Loft on Cambridge St / Rt 3. From Rte 128, take Rt 3 SOUTH / Cambridge St. exit (exit 33A). At the end of exit ramp, continue south on Rt 3 / Cambrindge St, towards Woburn. After a couple hundred feet, Cycle Loft will be on the left. Park in the shopping center lot just BEFORE the bike shop (left at the light). Don’t worry about having to ride on Rt 3, we have a back way out of the shop to avoid Rt 3!
Thursday – Solo Training You’re on your own
Friday – Carbo-load It’s going to be an exciting weekend of riding/racing.
Saturday – 9AM Club Ride
We are pleased to reintroduce the Saturday Morning Group Ride leaving from the Bedford Public Library parking lot at 9:30 am.
Social ride, pre-race warmup, long slow distance, or Hammer to Harvard—this ride can be all that and more. Just choose a group and ride off, starting at 9:30 am. Ride specifics to be determined by group, but there will be at least two groups: fast riders, and those who prefer to keep their bagels, fig newtons and cookies where they put them.
Sunday – Race Test your fitness at Wells Ave or another race.
