Riders were hopeful as they lined up at the start with a nice tailwind. Unfortunately a tailwind on the way out often turns into headwinds on the way back. Louis Salemy appeared unaffected as he set the pace to beat for 2006. The tandem team of Ed and Brooke wasn't too far behind. Still shy of the course tandem record (21:15). Let's see if they can drop their times as the summer progresses…. In the gears are for wimps department, Mike Pavlov shattered the previous mark for fixed gear riders, setting a pace not far from his best with gears.
