Q: How did you spend the off-season?
A: I spent the off-season recovering from a fractured hip suffered in the Portsmouth Crit last September. I wasn’t able to do much till mid-January so I’m playing catch up. Other than that I got a chance to watch my daughter play a lot of hockey.
Q: My worst moment on a bike?
A: Crashing and really hurting myself last September. You never think you’re going to be “that guy”.
Q: 2009 Season Goals?
A: To regain my strength and fitness and be representative in a very fast and competitive Expert 40-49 yr old field.
Q: Cycling influences or mentors?
A: I have two. Kurt Johnson and Anthony Laskaris. I never would have got into mtb racing this much without the influence of Kurt. His enthusiasm for the sport is contagious. We have probably ridden enough miles together over the years to circle the globe twice. And Anthony for his lessons on pace lining and group riding, not to mention all his help in the shop with bike fit and maintenance. Without these two guys my hobby wouldn’t be as much fun.
